JOURNEY TO DAKAR

David Thomas has raced on two wheels his whole life. Starting with Mountain Biking, then on to Enduro Riding. Over the last thirty years he has seen much success, winning numerous championships.

His competitiveness in extreme sports runs in his family. His father, Paul Thomas is an acclaimed Enduro Champion winning the Western Cape trophy on many occasions. His late brother, Justin Thomas, was a successful Western Cape Surf Champion and Motocross Enduro rider.

The Thomas brothers, whilst in their late 20’s, were training together to fulfil their dream to take on the Dakar. They were the perfect team: bike enthusiasts, talented, fit, young, both full of dreams and goals! David would ride, whilst his brother would be part of the support crew. When his elder brother died in a tragic car accident in 2003, David vowed to complete the Dakar in his memory.
